ASL withdraws capacity from Australia China Express (ACX) service

Asean Seas Line has reversed its plans to expand the Australia China Express (ACX) service and have started to remove ships from the loss making service. The 1,730 teu newbuilding ASL PEONY that was originally slated to join the ACX service on 16 March 2023 has been redeployed on the China-Hong Kong-Haiphong 2 service (HHX 2), while the 1,781 teu ASL HONG KONG has also shifted from the ACX to HHX 2 on 25 March 2023. Ruscon & MAS launch Turkey-St Petersburg link

Delo Group's Ruscon has partnered with Mountain Air Shipping (MAS), an international container shipping company based in Dubai, to operate a new liner service connecting Istanbul and St. Petersburg. The first sailing from Turkey was made on 30 January 2023 with the 707 teu SASCO ANIVA. The service will operate monthly and turns in 36 days, with a transit time of 15-17 days between Ambarli (Kumport) and St Petersburg (FCT).

Sinokor launch new Thailand South China service

Sinokor is starting a new Thailand Direct Express (TDX) service that connects South China and Thailand. The new service will call at Hong Kong, Shekou, Laem Chabang, Hong Kong on 11-day round trip with the 1,118 teu SENDAI TRADER. SENDAI TRADER will phase in at Hong Kong on 21 April after coming out of drydock. SENDAI TRADER was previously deployed in Sinokor's Pyongtaek Xingang Service (PXS).

ZIM introduces Patagonia Express

ZIM will launch the Patagonia Express Service (PES) that connects the US Gulf with Argentina and Brazil. The new service will call at Houston, Ushuaia, Rio De Janeiro, Houston with the 1,118 teu PACIFIC TRADER that will phase in at Houston on 14 April 2023. The service will turn in 49-51 days on an irregular frequency.

MSC upgrades Turkey-West Med-West Africa service

MSC has completed the upgrade of its Turkey-West Mediterranean-West Africa (Turkiye-West Med-WAF) service following the extension of its former West Med-Canary-Dakar-West Africa service to Turkey. The upgraded service started from 24 February 2023 with the 5,550 teu MSC CORUNA. The service will turn in 8 weeks and will deploy 8 ships of 4,000-5,500 teu to call at Tekirdag, Derince, Iskenderun, Gioia Tauro, Livorno, Genoa, Fos, Valencia, Las Palmas, Dakar, Abidjan, Tema, Lome, Tincan Island, Lom

Sea Lion upgrades Singapore-Pasir Gudang service

Sea Lion Shipping has upgraded its Singapore-Pasir Gudang feeder service from 1 March 2023, replacing its former barge service with ships chartered from MTT Shipping.  The 653 teu MTT  SINGAPORE and the 415 teu MTT RAJANG have been temporarily used to provide Singapore-Pasir Gudang shuttle services since March this year, operated in conjunction with MTT's Port Klang-Pasir Gudang domestic service. Arkas launches Istanbul Poti Service (IPS) that rotates through Kumport, Ambarli, Poti, Kumport on 21-day round trip with one ship. The 1139 teu MARTINE A will phase on 22 March at Kumport. Until recently, MARTINE A has been deployed in Arkas's Tunis-Libya Service (TL)
