MSC has extended the KIWI Express service with a new call at Laem Chabang added on 28 March 2023. The revised KIWI Express rotation will call at Tanjung Pelepas, Singapore, Laem Chabang, Singapore, Jakarta, Brisbane, Sydney, Auckland, Nelson, Wellington, Lyttelton, Port Chalmers, Brisbane, Tanjung Pelepas. The revised rotation will add 1 more week to the rotation and will henceforth turn in 10 weeks using up to 10 ships of 2,700 to 4,400 teu.
Zim/GSL's Thailand Fremantle Express (TFX) service will be extended with 3 new port calls added at Nansha, Yantian and Brisbane. The revised TFX will call Port Klang, Laem Chabang, Ho Chi Minh City, Nansha, Yantian, Sydney, Brisbane, Melbourne, Fremantle, Port Klang from April 2023 with the first call at Yantian made on 3 April with the 2,554 teu ALS VESTA. All 6 ships are being repositioned from Asia/Australia to South America and will begin their new employment at San Antonio in Chile. MTT Shipping has joined VIMC to launch a new Port Klang-Kolkata service. The 653 teu MTT SINGAPORE has phased into the service on 21 March 2023 at Port Klang, joining the 610 teu BIENDONG FORTUNE from VIMC that had phased in earlier on 16 March 2023.
Hapag-Lloyd and Feedertech (Unifeeder) have teamed up to introduce a new Vietnam Indonesia Service (VIS) connecting Singapore, Ho Chi Minh City, Singapore, Port Klang, Belawan, Penang, Port Klang, Singapore. X-Press Feeders has launched a new Intra Adriatic X-Press (IAX) service on 1 April 2023 calling at Venice, Koper, Venice with the 698 teu SUNAID X.
Asean Seas Line (ASL) has withdrawn the Australia China Express (ACX) service after the last ACX ship the 1,930 teu ASL BAUHINIA completed its last sailing on 29 May 2023. Although an ASL representative says the company will continue the ACX service beyond April, the service failedd to continue with the planned deployment of the newbuilding ASL TAIPEI which was redeployed on the Ningbo Philippines (NPX) service from June 2023.
The North Europe-West Africa service jointly operated by Hapag-Lloyd/Arkas will be expanded to add a new southbound call at Dakar. The service is branded as the West Africa Express (WAX)/Europe Africa Service (EAS) respectively by Hapag-Lloyd and Arkas. The new rotation will start from 7 May 2023 and call at Antwerp, Le Havre, Tanger Med, Dakar, Tema, Abidjan, Tanger Med, Antwerp. The service turns in 4 weeks and deploys 3 ships of 4,250 teu from Hapag-Lloyd and one 2,500 teu ship from Arkas.
Hapag-Lloyd will launch a new West Africa 1 (WA1) service that connects Tanger Med, Nouakchott, Freetown, Conakry, Monrovia, Tanger Med from 15 May 2023. The new service will be operated on a fortnightly frequency and turn in 4 weeks using 2 ships of 1,700 teu.
Russian operator Transit Line has launched a direct China to St Petersburg service on 30 March 2023 with the 2,193 teu XIN LONG YUN 86 which will be the largest ship that the Russian operator has operated so far. The new service will connect Shanghai, Ningbo, Xiamen, Nansha, St Petersburg. Only 1 sailing has been advertised so far.
