ONE launch Scandinavia Baltic Express (SBX)

ONE will launch a new Scandinavia Baltic Express (SBX) from 19 May 2024 calling at Wilhelmshaven, Hamburg, Fredericia, Gdynia, Wilhelmshaven. The service will turn on a weekly basis using one ship that will be named closer to the launch date in May. Hede Shipping to launch transpacific service

Hede Shipping will launch a new transpacific service from 20 March 2023 with the first sailing connecting Shanghai to Los Angeles using the 3,426 teu BFAD ATLANTIC. At Los Angeles, the service is scheduled to call at West Basin Container Terminal (WBCT) on 3 April. The Hede Direct Service (HDS) is expected to operate on a weekly basis on a 4 week roundtrip using 4 ships of 3,000-4,200 teu with an advertised transit time of 13 days from Shanghai to Los Angeles. Matson rebrands CLX+ as the Matson Asia Express (MAX)

Matson has changed the name of its China-Long Beach Express Plus (CLX+) service to the Matson Asia Express (MAX) from 18 February 2024. A 6th ship will be added to the service with a new call at Dutch Harbor added from 10 March 2024. The revised MAX rotation will call at Ningbo, Shanghai, Long Beach, Dutch Harbor, Ningbo using 6 ships of 2.800-4,250 teu. The service will retain an 11 day transit time from Shanghai to Long Beach.

Samskip extends Baltic Sea service to Klaipeda

Samskip has added a second vessel to the Samskip Baltic Sea service with the addition of a new call at Klaipeda and shift its UK call from Hull to Immingham from March 2024. The extended Samskip Baltic Sea service will replace the existing Samskip Finland & Latvia service that was first introduced in November 2023. Medkon and Turkon launched Red Sea Express Service/Türkiye Red Sea Service (RSX/TRS)

Medkon and Turkon have launched a new service connecting Turkey with the Red Sea from 3 March 2024. The new service is branded as Red Sea Express Service/Türkiye Red Sea Service (RSX/TRS) respectively by Medkon and Turkon to call at Iskenderun, Mersin, Jeddah, Aqaba, Iskenderun. The service will turn in 2 weeks using 2 ships of 1,100 teu starting with the 1,131 teu LEYLA KALKAVAN on 3 March 2024 followed by the 1,134 teu MEDKON PERLA will start on 13 March 2024.

COSCO/OOCL add Mediterranean Feeder/Israel West Med (MFS/IWM) service

COSCO and OOCL have added a new Mediterranean Feeder Service (MFS) / Israel West Med (IWM) service with the injection of a ship to Zim's Tyrrhenian Container Line (TYR) service. COSCO has been taking slots on the Zim service since November 2023. The TYR/MFS/IWM calls at Ashdod, Haifa, Fos, Genoa, Salerno, Ashdod and turns in 3 week with 3 ships of 1,100-1,400 teu. Maersk replaces PA1 with new HP3 and revised IA88 intra-Asia services

Maersk has launched a new HP2 intra-Asia service calling at Busan, Hakata, Shanghai, Ningbo, Kaohsiung, Hong Kong, Haiphong, Danang, Yantian, Hong Kong, Nansha, Kaohsiung, Busan from 29 February 2024. The HP3 service will turn in 3 weeks and deploys 3 ships of 1,757-1,781 teu - the NORDTIGER, CELANDINE and HELGOLAND. Evergreen to launch North China-Indonesia (NCI) service

Evergreen will launch a new North China-Indonesia (NCI) service calling at Xingang, Dalian, Qingdao, Gunsan, Ningbo, Nansha, Ho Chi Minh City, Tanjung Pelepas, Jakarta, Surabaya, Manila (S), Batangas, Hakata, Xingang. The NCI service will start from 29 March 2024 at Nansha with the 1,904 teu EVER CHART. It will turn in 5 weeks using 5 ships of 1,900-2,600 teu to cover 7 different countries in the North Asia to Southeast Asia corridor.

CUL & IAL to launch new South China-Vietnam-Thailand service

China United Lines (CUL) and Interasia Lines (IAL) will launch a new South China –Vietnam–Thailand service, marketed respectively as the SCT2  and SVT from 14 March 2024. The SCT2/SVT will call at Bangkok, Laem Chabang, Nansha, Chiwan, Ho Chi Minh City (Cat Lai), Bangkok. The service will turn in 2 weeks and deploy the 1,756 teu INTERASIA VISION and a second vessel to be operated by CUL.

Unimed launch Egypt-Greece feeder service

Unimed, Unifeeder's Mediterranean feeder arm, has launched a new Egypt-Greece feeder service connecting Port Said, Piraeus, Port Said from 18 February 2024 using the 1,134 teu PAN GG for the first 2 sailings before it is replaced by the 1,129 teu EGY CROWN. The service will turn on a weekly basis and will call at the SCCT terminal at Port Said and PCT in Piraeus.
