Abu Dhabi Ports in talks to acquire Meratus

Abu Dhabi Ports (AD Ports), the owner of Safeen Feeders, is reported to be in talks to acquire Indonesia’s Meratus Line in a transaction that could be valued at $2Bn. Meratus was reported to be seeking to sell its shipping and logistics business since July 2023, and AD Ports has emerged as the front runner in sales process. Meratus was established in 1957 in Surabaya, Indonesia and is the largest domestic operator in Indonesia. The company expanded its services to Papua New Guinea in February 20

Safeen upgrades UAE-India-Gulf UIG service

Safeen Feeders have upgraded its UAE-India-Gulf (UIG) service with the introduction of 3,500 teu ships to the service from July 2023 with the port rotation streamlined to call at Abu Dhabi, Mundra, Nhava Sheva, Abu Dhabi, Umm Qasr, Dammam, Abu Dhabi. The 3 AD Ports shipping companies - Safeen Feeders, Transmar and Global Feeder Shippping (GFS) - will launch a new service connecting Karachi, Abu Dhabi, Jebel Ali, Dammam, Jeddah, Aqaba, Sokhna, Adabiya, Port Sudan, Djibouti. AD Ports acquires controlling stake in Global Feeder Shipping

AD Ports have agreed to buy an 80% stake in Dubai based Global Feeder Shipping (GFS) on 3 November 2022 for a total  consideration of $800m, implying a total valuation of $1 Bn for GFS. Safeen Feeders have teamed up with CMA CGM to launch the Singapore Chennai Colombo (SCC) service starting from 5 September 2022 from Singapore. Safeen will introduce the 2,034 teu SAFEEN PIONEER on this service, joining CMA CGM's 1,732 teu SONGA TIGER.
