HMM will launch a new Far East-India-Med (FIM) service from 1 August 2023 that connects Busan, Kwangyang, Shanghai, Ningbo, Shekou, Singapore, Port Klang, Kattupalli, Nhava Sheva, Mundra, Karachi, Jeddah, Damietta, Piraeus, Genoa, Valencia, Barcelona, Piraeus, Damietta, Jeddah, Karachi, Mundra, Nhava Sheva, Kattupali, Singapore, Dachan Bay, Busan. Container volumes recovered slightly in May, with flash estimates showing a 1.4% month-on-month increase over April although it is still 1.6% lower compared to the same month last year. Year to date growth remains negative at -1.8% over the first 5 months of the year. The Indian sub-continent was one of the key bright spots with May volumes up 9.8% yoy. Zim and Gold Star Line (GSL) have revised the GSL Kolkata Colombo (GKC) service with the addition of new calls at Chittagong and Kattupalli from May 2023. The revised service has been renamed Kolkata Chittagong Express Shutle (GKC) and calls at Colombo, Chittagong, Kolkata, Kattupalli, Colombo, turning in 21 days using 3 chartered ships of 1,000-1,100 teu (IMKE SCHEPERS, SINAR BANGKA, ASIATIC NEPTUNE).
Aladin Express has started a new India-Turkey Express (ITX) service connecting Nhava Sheva, Mundra, Diliskelesi, Nhava Sheva with the 1,740 teu GREEN ACE. The maiden voyage started on 9 April 2023 with sailings every 30-35 days. The GREEN ACE has been chartered by Aladin since September 2022 and was previously deployed on Aladin's Gulf India Express (GIX). CMA CGM and MSC will add a new call at Ennore on the westbound leg of their jointly North Europe Med Oceania (NEMO)/Australia Express (AEX) service from 9 June 2023. The new call will provide the direct import connections from Australia and Singapore to Ennore, and export connections from Ennore to the Med and North European ports. MTT Shipping has joined VIMC to launch a new Port Klang-Kolkata service. The 653 teu MTT SINGAPORE has phased into the service on 21 March 2023 at Port Klang, joining the 610 teu BIENDONG FORTUNE from VIMC that had phased in earlier on 16 March 2023.
SeaLead’s new Australia India Pakistan (ASIA) service has started on 21 March 2023 with the 4,395 teu REN JIAN 26 that has been newly chartered from Antong for a period of 6 months. The service calls at Port Klang, Melbourne, Sydney, Brisbane, Port Klang, Karachi, Mundra, Nhava Sheva, Port Klang. The service will operate on an irregular frequency of around 3 to 4 weeks, with a second ship expected to phase in April.
TS Lines (TSL)has added a new Asia Indian Subcontinent 2 (AIS2) service after it joined Sinokor and Global Feeder Service (GFS) on their jointly operated Sinokor India Service 2 (SIS 2) / China Sub Continent (CSC) service. TS Lines replaced SeaLead as a partner on this service after the latter pulled out from the service in December 2022. The service will be operate on an irregular basis with only 2 ships with a frequency of 20-30 days, with plans to increase the frequency in the second half of 2023.
