MSC acquires two 14,000 teu newbuilding contracts from BAL

MSC has acquired 2 newbuilding contracts for a pair of 14,000 teu ships currently under construction at Jiangnan Shipyard from BAL Container Line for $133.3m in total or $66.65m for each ship. BAL's parent company, LC Logistics, will book a profit of $49m from the sale as the book value of these ships stand at $84.3m for the first 2 installments paid to Jiangnan for the construction of the ships so far. BAL relaunch China-Mexico Express (CMX) service

BAL Container Line has relaunched the China-Mexico Express (CMX) service calling at Yantian, Qingdao, Lazaro Cardenas, Manzanillo (Mex), Yantian from 1 June 2024. The CMX service will turn in 6 weeks using the newly chartered 1,809 teu AMOUREUX that is expected to make 2 round voyages in June and July. BAL Container Line has stopped its container services following the final voyage of the 3,534 teu NORTHERN DEBONAIR that finished its China-Mexico Express (CMX) sailing at Qingdao on 9 January 2023. SeaLead maintains China-LA link through slots on Transfar

SeaLead will continue to serve the China-US West Coast market by taking slots on Transfar's sailings between Ningbo and Long Beach from November 2022. SeaLead has ceased to call at the US West Coast since 15 October when the 3,534 teu SONIC made its last call at Long Beach. BAL has added a second service connecting China and Vietnam with the launch of the China Vietnam Express (CVX) in April. The service deploys 2 ships of 1,000-1,200 teu and connects Taicang, Ningbo, Haiphong, Ho Chi Minh City, Taicang. BAL launch South China-Vietnam service

BAL Container Line has launched a new South China-Vietnam Express (SVX) service that connects Nansha, Da Chan Bay and Ho Chi Minh City. The 706 teu BAL STAR initiated the service at Nansha on 18 December 2021.
